Ct scan

Why Ct scan is done?

A CT scan combines a sequence of X-ray images collected from various angles around your body and uses computer processing to create cross-sectional images (slices) of the bones, blood arteries, and soft tissues within your body. CT scan images contain more information than standard X-rays.

A CT scan may be advised by your doctor to:

-Diagnose skeletal and muscular conditions, including bone cancers and   fractures

-Identify a tumor, infection, or blood clot's location.

-help with surgical, biopsy, and radiation therapy procedures

-Find and keep an eye on ailments and diseases like cancer, heart disease,  lung nodules, and liver masses.

-track the results of specific treatments, such as cancer treatment

-Identify internal bleeding and injuries

Things CT scan Risks contain.

CT scan radiation, You are briefly exposed to ionizing radiation during ct scan radiation. Because a CT scan gathers more detailed information, the dose of radiation is higher than with a standard X-ray. Low levels of radiation used in CT scans have not been found to cause long-term harm, while much greater doses may cause a slight increase in your cancer risk. CT scans have numerous advantages that outweigh any minor risks. To gather the necessary medical information, doctors employ the least amount of radiation possible. Furthermore, newer, faster machinery and procedures require less radiation than previous methods. Discuss the benefits and dangers of your CT scan with your doctor.

How you should prepare for a Ct scan- Head, Chest, Brain

-Wear a hospital gown instead of your regular clothes.

-Remove any metal objects that could interfere with picture results, such as a belt, jewelry, dentures, or eyeglasses.

-Eat or drink nothing for a couple of hours before your scan.

For some CT scans, a special dye known as contrast material is required to help highlight the portions of your body being scanned. The contrast material absorbs X-rays and shows white on pictures, helping to highlight blood arteries, intestines, and other structures.
